TREAT POULTRY LITTER TO REDUCE AMMONIA

Reused litter is a part of raising birds, but it carries risks. Ammonia, pathogens and health challenges can carry over from one flock to the next and cause poor performance.

Keep your flock healthy with Essential DryXP, a safe and natural litter treatment to reduce ammonia in poultry houses.

CUSTOMER SUCCESS

“We have seen testing by customers with really good success in controlling ammonia, moisture and dust control at the start up of poultry houses. The product composition of Essential Dry XP allows it to be put down 3-5 days prior to placement and the ammonia control lasts longer as reported in the trials. Everyone that has trialed this product has had success.”

REDUCING AMMONIA IN LITTER

Chickens excrete nitrogen in their feces in the form of urea and uric acid. When nitrogen is combined with moisture, bacteria and heat, it becomes ammonia.

Ammonia at high levels (25 ppm) is toxic to birds leading to inflammation and irritation of the eyes and lungs. Even at low levels (5-15 ppm) ammonia can reduce flock performance, impair immune function, increase the risk of respiratory disease and result in more condemnations at processing.

Several factors influence high ammonia levels in litter, but the main contributors are litter condition and moisture. Great care with litter management and treatments can help reduce ammonia emissions and moisture levels in reused litter.

WHAT'S INSIDE

Essential Dry XP address three areas of ammonia formation using yucca schidigera, patented essential oils and diatomaceous earth. Together, these components help reduce ammonia and moisture and improve bird performance.

Yucca schidigera helps reduce ammonia odor and prevent harmful gases from harming birds.

Patented Microfused® Essential Oils have powerful antimicrobial and antibacterial properties to help reduce pathogen growth.

Diatomaceous earth helps neutralize ammonia, absorb moisture, bind mold and repel insects.

RESEARCH PROVEN TO REDUCE AMMONIA

Research shows Essential Dry XP is able to reduce ammonia volatilization in poultry litter. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the release of ammonia from litter and showed Essential Dry XP was able to continuously reduce the rate of release by over 30%. In chicken houses, independent research demonstrated this combination of active ingredients reduced ammonia levels from 17.5 ppm to 2.5 ppm.
